Melvin Mora hit one over the fence and Gio Gonzalez reeled off a total of 10
strikeouts as the St. Paul Saints beat the Chainsaw Proctologists by a score
of 3 to 2.
Gonzalez(1-0) pitched well for St. Paul in their victory. He went 6 and 1/3
innings allowing 5 hits and 3 walks. Chainsaw made it exciting in the 9th,
but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Sean Gallagher was credited with his 6th save. Ryan Speier(1-2) took the loss
in relief. Gonzalez didn't realize how many strikeouts he was racking up.
When told he had 10 he was obviously surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew that
I had a decent total, but I didn't think I had K'd that many. Say, that's
pretty good, isn't it?'
